In this article we are going to discuss the global online gambling landscape and try to identify some trends, observed at the end of 2014. Statistics will help us, because after considering the statistics in relation to the past, we can predict the future. So, we offer you six trends that are now seen in the world of gambling. (A small nuance: all games are taken into consideration in the statistics, not only gambling).

1. Females are gambling more and the percentage of the players from the older generation increases.

Nowadays females compose 47% of American gamers, compared to 42% in 2012. Yes, 5% increase is relatively small, but on the other hand, this is an increase in more than 10% within two years. There are also more aged female gamers: 29% of players in 2014 are above 50 years, compared to 21% in 2012. In short, the population of the world gambling is becoming more and more diverse and developers have already noticed that.

2. Gambling family is a normal thing.

The stereotype of single players does not work anymore! Players have grown, got married and had children, who become new players, and now the whole family is playing. Nowadays more than a third of parents in the United States at least once a week play games with their children and more than half of gamers play at least once a month. 16% of children play with their parents, 40% play with friends, 17% play with the husband (wife), and 34% play together with other members of the family.

3. Revenue from games and game content outstripped incomes from film industry.

Revenue from sales of new games in the United States in 2014 composes $24 billion. Meanwhile, revenue from the distribution of new films equals only $10 billion. Thus, at the moment the game industry is a very serious competitor of the entire TV/film industry.

4. Games are becoming more and more mobile.

The prevalence of mobile phones in the United Stated in 2014 comprises 101%, i.e. every American has at least one phone. If we consider that many mobile phones are now more powerful than the computers that were used in the 1990s, the growth of mobile gambling is clear and irreversible. For example, in 2014 in the United States 48 million people chose to play on mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets.

5. The more free games are appearing.

Many sites have recently started offering free versions of their popular games. Marketing specialists have finally understood that the person needs to try the game and see if he or she wants to play it for the money. It is a big advantage for the players. Now they have a wide variety of available free games that can be played just for fun, without any financial risk.

6. The number of Internet users is guaranteed to grow.

On our beautiful planet there are more than 7 billion people, and only about two and a half billion people use the Internet. At the same time, the number of mobile users is now more than 6.5 billion worldwide! South Asia, Central America, Middle East and Africa are the most backward regions in terms of Internet access, mainly due to lack of broadband infrastructure, but this situation is changing rapidly.

Let's finish with the trends and just provide the statistics, especially taking into consideration the fact that gambling industry statistics for 2014 show interesting results of gaming habits and demographics worldwide.
